Our XCel intake is unlike any other intake for the Mazda3 MPS. This isn't just another clever marketing scheme; we actually apply several crucial design details to our intake that our competitors overlook. To illustrate our point, let's consider how our competitors make their cold air kits.
Our competitors bend their standard size aluminum pipe (think 2.5", 2.75", 3" etc.) as one piece and then put a filter on the end of it. This is cheap and easy to manufacture, but the resulting vehicle drivability can be hit or miss because little attention is paid to the mass air sensor, which is arguably the most important sensor on your engine! Because our competitors use standard size pipe, the diameter of the mass air housing is not ideal, and this usually leads to knocking and/or hesitation under heavy throttle inputs.
The CP-e XCel intake on the other hand has several features that ensure an accurate mass air meter reading. We not only machine out mass air housings from aluminum blanks to tolerances of +/- 0.002" (about the width of a human hair), but we also include a stock-style airflow straightener, which our competitors delete, yet greatly improves sensor precision. The resulting fuel trims are nearly stock, and the vehicle drivability is unchanged from stock...save for the extra horsepower of course!
