| As many enthusiasts are aware, the OE Hitachi Direct Injection Fuel Pump is insufficient for power levels that go beyond the factory equipment. Usually in the midrange of the power band (2800rpm-4200rpm), vehicles utilizing this Hitachi Fuel Pump will experience a ‘fuel cut’ at wide-open throttle. Fuel cut consists of the electronic throttle plate snapping closed in order to ‘save’ the engine from a dangerous lean condition, because the fuel pressure drops beyond acceptable, safe levels. Looking at this chart, we can see exactly what flow levels the factory fuel pump, and aftermarket fuel pumps, can perform at, for any given point in time.
